I come from a background in primary education, having spent most of my
working life in a variety of New Zealand schools, in both teaching and
management roles. I have always had a strong affinity with and interest
in the use of technology in education, coupled with a pragmatic belief in
the dangers of being seduced by the charms of “things that plug in”.
In my current role as Deputy Principal of Northern Health School, I have,
among other things, worked to use technology to improve the way the school
operates and to enhance the learning of students. This has included the
implementation of a custom designed student management system, website and
communication strategies, the trial of Project Live (the subject of our
workshop), and the associated Professional Development. I am currently
completing a Masters degree in education administration.
