Drawings enable children to express their feelings and become calm.
Hopitalized children may also reflect their experiences by drawings
and may become calm.
This study is conducted to examine hospitalized children's drawings
and their perception of facial expressions.The sample of this study inculdes 91 children who are hospitalizedin departments of urology, surgery, orthopedy, gastroenterology, cardiology, infections, chest infections, oncology and hematology of three Children's Hospitals.
In the first phase of the study,child information form were filled
and children were asked to make drawings about themselves and their hospital
life. Children were also asked to draw a picture the subject of which
could freely be decided. In the other part of the study, picture of facial
expressions which reflected different emotions were asked to match these pictures with hospital staff,their parents and thmeselves.
In conclusion of analysis of children's drawings and matching of facial expressions, it was established that experience of hospitalization
effects children's drawings and matching of facial expressions.
